Code § 44-109.06","heading":"Medication management training program.","body":"(a)\nThe Mayor shall develop medication management training courses which shall be approved by the Board of Nursing. The medication administration training program shall include instruction in the following areas:\n(1)\nCuing, coaching, and monitoring residents who self-administer medications  with or without assistance;\n(2)\nPharmacology;\n(3)\nTerminology related to medication;\n(4)\nProcedures and precautions in administering medication;\n(5)\nTypes of medication;\n(6)\nActions, interactions, and effects of medication;\n(7)\nAdministration of medication in emergency or life-threatening circumstances;\n(8)\nRecordkeeping, storage, handling, and disposal requirements for medications;\n(9)\nRights of residents;\n(10)\nMonitoring of vital signs;\n(11)\nFederal and District of Columbia laws governing medication; and\n(12)\nReference sources related to medication.\n\n(b)\nThe Mayor shall maintain a list of approved medication administration courses for the training of persons to be certified by the District of Columbia as TMEs.\n\n(c)\nIn order to maintain certification, every 2 years a TME shall successfully complete a clinical update or refresher course approved by the Mayor.\n\n(d)\nThe ALA shall document completion of the medication training course in TME’s personnel file.","path":["Title 44.
