Code § 47-2853.04","heading":"Regulated non-health related occupations and professions.","body":"(a)\nThe following non-health related occupations and professions have been determined to require regulation in order to protect public health, safety or welfare or to assure the public that persons engaged in these occupations or professions have the specialized skills or training required to perform the services offered:\n(1)\nArchitect;\n(2)\nAsbestos Worker;\n(3)\nAttorney;\n(4)\nBarber;\n(5)\nBody Artist;\n(6)\nBoxer/Wrestler;\n(7)\nCampus Police Officer;\n(8)\nCertified Public Accountant;\n(8A)\nNot Funded.\n(9)\nClinical Laboratory Director;\n(10)\nClinical Laboratory Technician;\n(11)\nCommercial Driver;\n(11A)\nNot Funded.\n(12)\nCommercial Bicycle Operator;\n(13)\nCosmetologist;\n(14)\nElectrician;\n(15)\nElevator Mechanic;\n(16)\nElevator Contractor;\n(17)\nElevator Inspector.\n(18)\nFuneral Director;\n(19)\nInsurance Agent;\n(20)\nInsurance Broker;\n(21)\nInterior Designer;\n(22)\nInvestment Advisor;\n(23)\nLand Surveyor;\n(24)\nLandscape Architect;\n(25)\nNotary Public;\n(26)\nOperating Engineer;\n(27)\nPlumber/Gasfitter;\n(28)\nPrincipal (Public School);\n(29)\nPrivate Correctional Officer;\n(29A)\nNot Funded.\n(30)\nPrivate Detective;\n(31)\nProfessional Engineer;\n(32)\nProperty Manager;\n(33)\nReal Estate Appraiser;\n(34)\nReal Estate Broker;\n(35)\nReal Estate Salesperson;\n(36)\nRefrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic;\n(37)\nSecurities Agent;\n(38)\nSecurities Broker-Dealer;\n(39)\nSecurity Alarm Agent;\n(40)\nSecurity Officer;\n(41)\nSpecial Police Officer;\n(42)\nSteam Engineer;\n(43)\nTaxicab/Limousine Operator;\n(44)\nTeacher and Other Instructional Personnel (Public Schools Only);\n(45)\nTour guide; and\n(46)\nVeterinarian.\n\n(b)\nNo other non-health related occupation or profession shall be regulated other than as set forth in subsection (a) of this section, except where there has been a determination by the Mayor that regulation is needed to protect the public interest and is consistent with the criteria for regulation specified in § 47-2853.02.\n\n(c)\nAll non-health related occupations and professions shall be regulated by the Mayor through the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection, except as follows:\n(1)\nAttorneys shall be regulated by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, as provided in § 11-2501.\n(2)\nNotaries public shall be regulated by the Mayor, as provided in [Chapter 12A of Title 1].\n(3)\nPrincipals, teachers, and other instructional employees of the District of Columbia public schools shall be regulated by the Superintendent of Schools of the District of Columbia as delegated by the Board of Education, pursuant to § 38-105 [repealed], and teachers and instructional employees of the University of the District of Columbia (“University”) by the Board of Trustees of the University pursuant to §§ 38-1202.01 and 38-1202.06 and § 38-1202.11.\n(4)\nInsurance agents and brokers, securities agents and brokers, and investment advisers shall be regulated by the Department of Insurance and Securities Regulation, as provided in subchapter I of Chapter 1 of Title 31, Chapter 36 of Title 3, and Chapter 37 [repealed] of Title 3.\n(5)\nHackers, taxicab and limousine operators shall be regulated by the Department of For-Hire Vehicles, as provided in § 47-2829.\n(6)\nCommercial drivers and commercial bicycle operators shall be regulated by the Department of Public Works, as provided in Chapter 16 of Title 50 and Chapter 4 of Title 50.\n(7)\nSpecial police, security alarm agents and private correctional officers shall be regulated by the Metropolitan Police Department as provided in § 5-129.02; § 7-2805; and subchapter VII of Chapter 2 of Title 24.\n(8)\nBoxers, wrestlers, referees and other officials involved in boxing and wrestling contests shall be regulated by § 3-606(b).\n(9)\nClinical laboratory directors and clinical laboratory technicians shall be regulated by the Mayor in accordance with Chapter 2 of Title 44.\n(10)\nVeterinarians shall be regulated by the Mayor in accordance with subchapter I of Chapter 5 of Title 3.\n(11)\nFuneral directors shall be regulated by the Mayor in accordance with Chapter 4 of Title 3.","path":["Title 47.
