Code § 48-314","heading":"Office of Food Policy.","body":"(a)\n(1)\nThere is established an Office of Food Policy (\"Office\") within the Department of Health for the purpose of promoting equitable and sustainable food policies across the District that increase food access and build a local food economy.\n(2)\nThe Office shall be led by the Food Policy Director, who shall be hired and employed by the Department of Health.\n\n(b)\nThe Office shall:\n(1)\nCollaborate with other jurisdictions to promote locally-grown and sustainable food production practices;\n(2)\nSeek outside grants, recognition, and partnerships to facilitate positive food policy in the District;\n(3)\nProvide assistance to participants in the local food economy in securing necessary permits and approvals and in navigating the regulatory process;\n(4)\nAdvocate for new local food economy ventures to locate in the District;\n(5)\nDevise strategies for the District to meet the food goals identified in the Sustainable DC Plan issued by the Mayor in 2013; and\n(6)\nWork with relevant agencies to reduce regulatory burdens on the local food economy.","path":["Title 48.
