Code § 5-1431.02","heading":"Composition of the Committee; procedural requirements.","body":"(a)\nThe Mayor shall appoint one representative from each of the following District agencies:\n(1)\nThe Office of the Attorney General;\n(2)\nThe Office of the Chief Medical Examiner;\n(3)\nThe Metropolitan Police Department;\n(4)\nThe Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement;\n(5)\nThe Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants;\n(6)\nThe Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department;\n(7)\nThe Department of Behavioral Health;\n(8)\nThe Department of Human Services;\n(9)\nThe Department of Health; and\n(10)\nThe District of Columbia Housing Authority.\n\n(b)\nThe Mayor shall invite members from federal, judicial, and private agencies or entities with relevant expertise in homicide or suicide cases, to include one representative from each of the following:\n(1)\nThe Superior Court of the District of Columbia;\n(2)\nThe Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia; and\n(3)\nThe Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency.\n\n(c)\nThe Mayor shall additionally appoint the following members in accordance with § 1-523.01(f):\n(1)\nOne representative from each hospital located in the District;\n(2)\nTwo representatives from organizations providing hospital-based violence intervention programs;\n(3)\nTwo representatives from organizations providing mental and behavioral health services;\n(4)\nOne representative from a college or university within the District conducting research in homicide and suicide prevention;\n(5)\nOne representative from an organization providing services to secondary victims of homicide or suicide; and\n(6)\nThree community members who are not District government employees.\n\n(d)\n(1)\nMembers appointed pursuant to subsections (a) and (b) of this section shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor, or of the entity designating their availability for appointment.\n(2)\nMembers appointed pursuant to subsection (c) of this section shall serve a 3-year term and may be removed by the Mayor for cause.  Vacancies in membership shall be filled in the same manner in which the original appointment was made.\n\n(e)\nThe Committee shall select a Chairperson according to procedures set forth by the Committee.\n\n(f)\nThe Committee shall establish quorum and other procedural requirements as it considers necessary.\n\n(g)\nNo member appointed pursuant to subsection (c) of this section shall serve in a hold-over capacity for longer than 180 days after the expiration of the term to which they were appointed.\n\n(h)\nThe Committee may invite other stakeholders to attend or present at any relevant portion of a Committee meeting.","path":["Title 5.
