Code § 5-1501.08","heading":"Transfer of personnel, records, functions, and authority.","body":"(a)\nThe Mayor shall provide for the orderly transfer to the Department all of the authority, responsibilities, duties, assets, and functions of MPD pertaining to forensic science services, including:\n(1)\nForensic alcohol;\n(2)\nComputer forensics;\n(3)\nAnalysis of controlled substances;\n(4)\nDNA/biological material analysis;\n(5)\nFingerprint comparison;\n(6)\nFirearms and tool mark examination;\n(7)\nForensic photography;\n(8)\nAnalysis of questioned documents;\n(9)\nTrace evidence analysis;\n(10)\nPersonnel and authority for vacant and filled positions;\n(11)\nProperty;\n(12)\nRecords; and\n(13)\nAll unexpended balances of appropriations, allocations, and other funds available or to be made available to the MPD for the purposes of forensic science services.\n\n(a-1)\nThe Mayor shall provide for the orderly transfer to the Department all of the authority, responsibilities, duties, assets, and functions of the Department of Health pertaining to public health laboratory services, including:\n(1)\nDisease prevention, control and surveillance testing;\n(2)\nEmergency preparedness testing;\n(3)\nFood surveillance and testing;\n(4)\nReference and specialized testing;\n(5)\nIntegrated data management;\n(6)\nEducation, training and partnerships;\n(7)\nSpecial research; and\n(8)\nThe ability to seek grants pertaining to public health laboratory services from government agencies, including the Center for Disease Control.\n\n(b)\nThe transfers set forth in subsections (a) and (a-1) of this section shall occur no later than October 1, 2012.","path":["Title 5.
