Code § 50-2209.11","heading":"Automated enforcement expansion plan.","body":"(a)\nNot later than April 1, 2013, the Mayor shall transmit to the Council a plan for expansion of automated traffic enforcement in the District. The plan shall include:\n(1)\nAn explanation of the plan, its goals, and the strategies to achieve the goals, such as red light, speed, fixed, and mobile;\n(2)\nA recommended number of automated enforcement cameras, by category, that should be deployed in the District to achieve appropriate levels of enforcement and associated traffic safety results;\n(3)\nA timeline for deploying the recommended number of cameras, including the number of additional cameras needed, by category and by fiscal year; and\n(4)\nThe amount of funding necessary, in addition to what has been authorized as of the date of the plan’s publication, by fiscal year, to attain the target number of cameras.\n\n(b)\n(1)\n(A)\nBy January 1, 2023, the Mayor shall have operating at least:\n(i)\n40 red light automated enforcement cameras;\n(ii)\n80 speed automated enforcement cameras; and\n(iii)\n6 stop sign automated enforcement cameras.\n(B)\nBy January 1, 2024, the Mayor shall have operating at least:\n(i)\n67 red light automated enforcement cameras;\n(ii)\n267 speed automated enforcement cameras;\n(iii)\n29 stop sign automated enforcement cameras; and\n(iv)\n20 bus lane automated enforcement cameras.\n(2)\nThe Director of the District Department of Transportation, having evaluated the effectiveness of each camera type, shall have the authority to alter the number of cameras required under paragraph (1) of this subsection; provided, that the Director shall provide the Council with written notice, including a rationale, for any alteration that would decrease the number of cameras of a particular camera type below the number required under paragraph (1) of this subsection.","path":["Title 50.
