Code § 8-631.01","heading":"Findings and declaration of purpose.","body":"The Council finds that the public interest is best served when the public health and the environment are protected by the cleanup of contaminated properties. Accordingly, the Council declares its policy is to:\n\n(1)\nCreate incentives for the voluntary cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated property;\n\n(2)\nDevelop effective and consistent cleanup standards and processes;\n\n(3)\nEnsure public involvement in the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated properties;\n\n(4)\nEnsure that those responsible for the contamination of a property are held accountable;\n\n(5)\nPromote economic development by encouraging the reuse of contaminated properties;\n\n(6)\nEliminate public health and environmental risks on properties;\n\n(7)\nEnsure the cleanup of contaminated properties is coordinated with plans for redevelopment and the sustainable reuse of the properties;\n\n(8)\nProvide for a comprehensive program to consistently and fairly assess the cleanup of contaminated properties; and\n\n(9)\nProvide for regulatory and voluntary cleanup programs.","path":["Title 8.
