Stat. § 400.1183","heading":"Resident grievance procedures.","body":"(1) Every nursing home must have a grievance procedure available to its residents and their families. The grievance procedure must include:\n(a) An explanation of how to pursue redress of a grievance.\n(b) The names, job titles, and telephone numbers of the employees responsible for implementing the facility’s grievance procedure. The list must include the address and the toll-free telephone numbers of the ombudsman and the agency.\n(c) A simple description of the process through which a resident may, at any time, contact the toll-free telephone hotline of the ombudsman or the agency to report the unresolved grievance.\n(d) A procedure for providing assistance to residents who cannot prepare a written grievance without help.\n(2) Each nursing home facility shall maintain records of all grievances and a report, subject to agency inspection, of the total number of grievances handled, a categorization of the cases underlying the grievances, and the final disposition of the grievances.\n(3) Each facility must respond to the grievance within a reasonable time after its submission.\n(4) The agency may investigate any grievance at any time.\nHistory.—s. 19, ch. 2001-45; s. 64, ch. 2007-230; s. 5, ch. 2012-160.","path":["CHAPTER 400 NURSING HOMES AND RELATED HEALTH CARE FACILITIES"],"source_url":"https://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute\u0026URL=0400-0499/0400/0400.html","current_through":"2026 Florida Statutes","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-08-27T02:05:09Z","sha256":"87293e4dde63ae22d4fd09957a6d37120a69c1280f8813505c45eb166963702e","source_id":"us-fl","stale":false,"prev":"us-fl/fla.-stat.-400.118","next":"us-fl/fla.-stat.-400.119"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
