{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-11-9-301","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 11-9-301","heading":"Law governing perfection and priority of security interests.","body":"Except as otherwise provided in Code Sections 11-9-303 through 11-9-306, the following rules determine the law governing perfection, the effect of perfection or nonperfection, and the priority of a security interest in collateral:\n(1) Except as otherwise provided in this Code section, while a debtor is located in a jurisdiction, the local law of that jurisdiction governs perfection, the effect of perfection or nonperfection, and the priority of a security interest in collateral;\n(2) While collateral is located in a jurisdiction, the local law of that jurisdiction governs perfection, the effect of perfection or nonperfection, and the priority of a possessory security interest in that collateral;\n(3) Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (4) of this Code section, while tangible negotiable documents, goods, instruments, money, or tangible chattel paper is located in a jurisdiction, the local law of that jurisdiction governs:\n(A) Perfection of a security interest in the goods by filing a fixture filing;\n(B) Perfection of a security interest in timber to be cut;\n(C) Perfection of a security interest in crops; and\n(D) The effect of perfection or nonperfection and the priority of a nonpossessory security interest in the collateral; and\n(4) The local law of the jurisdiction in which the wellhead or minehead is located governs perfection, the effect of perfection or nonperfection, and the priority of a security interest in as-extracted collateral.","path":["TITLE 11 Commercial Code","Article 9 Secured Transactions","PART 3 Perfection and Priority","Subpart 1 Law Governing Perfection and Priority"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.11.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"8a70cf67ed7a18ab6b15169604efda99875feba92dada2271435442a23b8f200","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-11-9-210","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-11-9-302"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
