{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-15-11-242","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 15-11-242","heading":"Effect of guardianship order.","body":"(a) Permanent guardianship orders entered pursuant to Code Section 15-11-240 shall:\n(1) Remain in effect until the child adjudicated as a dependent child reaches the age of 18 or becomes emancipated;\n(2) Not be subject to review by the court except as provided in Code Section 15-11-244; and\n(3) Establish a reasonable visitation schedule which allows the child adjudicated as a dependent child to maintain meaningful contact with his or her parents through personal visits, telephone calls, letters, or other forms of communication or specifically include any restriction on a parent’s right to visitation.\n(b) A permanent guardian shall have the rights and duties of a permanent guardian as provided in Code Sections 29-2-21, 29-2-22, and 29-2-23 and shall take the oath required of a guardian as provided in Code Section 29-2-24.","path":["TITLE 15 Courts","CHAPTER 11 Juvenile Code","Article 3 Dependency Proceedings","PART 13 Permanent Guardianship"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.15.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"f548c3d855b00be6bfa02dfe30a1a4bda43641ee05e066a18d82c5a72b1acfbe","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-15-11-241","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-15-11-243"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
