{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-16-11-45","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 16-11-45","heading":"Use of laser against aircraft.","body":"(a) As used in this Code section, the term:\n(1) “Laser” means any device that projects a beam or point of light by means of light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation or a device that emits light which simulates the appearance of a laser.\n(2) “Laser pointer” means any device designed or used to amplify electromagnetic radiation by stimulated emission that emits a beam designed to be used by the operator as a pointer or highlighter to indicate, mark, or identify a specific position, place, item, or object.\n(b) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (c) of this Code section, whoever knowingly and intentionally aims the beam of a laser pointer, or projects a laser, at an aircraft or at the flight path of an aircraft shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.\n(c) Laser or laser pointer airspace uses that have been reviewed and approved by the Federal Aviation Administration are exempt from the provisions of this Code section.","path":["TITLE 16 Crimes and Offenses","CHAPTER 11 Offenses Against Public Order and Safety","Article 2 Offenses Against Public Order"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.16.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"f39d4021c5a3d99f68ce1f13989446cfe36bca2fa811a74de275f342c4e9af7c","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-16-11-44","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-16-11-60"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
