{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-17-12-6","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 17-12-6","heading":"Assistance of council to public defenders.","body":"(a) The council may assist the public defenders throughout the state in their efforts to provide adequate legal defense to the indigent. Assistance may include:\n(1) The preparation and distribution of a basic defense manual and other educational materials;\n(2) The preparation and distribution of model forms and documents employed in indigent defense;\n(3) The promotion of and assistance in the training of indigent defense attorneys;\n(4) The provision of legal research assistance to public defenders; and\n(5) The provision of such other assistance to public defenders as may be authorized by law.\n(b) The council:\n(1) Shall be the fiscal officer for the circuit public defender offices and shall account for all moneys received from each governing authority; and\n(2) May collect, maintain, review, and publish in print or electronically records and statistics for the purpose of evaluating the delivery of indigent defense representation in Georgia.","path":["TITLE 17 Criminal Procedure","CHAPTER 12 Legal Defense For Indigents","Article 1 Georgia Public Defender Council"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.17.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"4cbe45c515b96ccfdff4861bb2706197fbe9b1d65c9076b39ba101f335cac793","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-17-12-5","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-17-12-7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
