{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-19-11-183","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 19-11-183","heading":"Duties of Department of Human Services; available support proceedings.","body":"(a) In a support proceeding under this part, the Department of Human Services shall:\n(1) Transmit and receive applications; and\n(2) Initiate or facilitate the institution of a proceeding regarding an application in a tribunal of Georgia.\n(b) The following support proceedings are available to an obligee under the convention:\n(1) Recognition or recognition and enforcement of a foreign support order;\n(2) Enforcement of a support order issued or recognized in Georgia;\n(3) Establishment of a support order if there is no existing order, including, if necessary, determination of parentage of a child;\n(4) Establishment of a support order if recognition of a foreign support order is refused under paragraph (2), (4), or (9) of subsection (b) of Code Section 19-11-184.3;\n(5) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of Georgia; and\n(6) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.\n(c) The following support proceedings are available under the convention to an obligor against which there is an existing support order:\n(1) Recognition of an order suspending or limiting enforcement of an existing support order of a tribunal of Georgia;\n(2) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of Georgia; and\n(3) Modification of a support order of a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.\n(d) A tribunal of Georgia may not require security, bond, or deposit, however described, to guarantee the payment of costs and expenses in proceedings under the convention.","path":["TITLE 19 Domestic Relations","CHAPTER 11 Enforcement of Duty of Support","Article 3 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act","PART 7 Determination of Parentage"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.19.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"e58e691dc2dbd297a6006e8b8499c9895fc808051d56f748222f075c160ebcd2","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-19-11-182","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-19-11-184"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
