{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-19-11-184.5","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 19-11-184.5","heading":"Recognition and enforcement of foreign support agreement.","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsections (c) and (d) of this Code section, a tribunal of Georgia shall recognize and enforce a foreign support agreement registered in this state.\n(b) An application or direct request for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement must be accompanied by:\n(1) A complete text of the foreign support agreement; and\n(2) A record stating that the foreign support agreement is enforceable as an order of support in the issuing country.\n(c) A tribunal of Georgia may vacate the registration of a foreign support agreement only if, acting on its own motion, the tribunal finds that recognition and enforcement would be manifestly incompatible with public policy.\n(d) In a contest of a foreign support agreement, a tribunal of Georgia may refuse recognition and enforcement of the agreement if it finds:\n(1) Recognition and enforcement of the agreement is manifestly incompatible with public policy;\n(2) The agreement was obtained by fraud or falsification;\n(3) The agreement is incompatible with a support order involving the same parties and having the same purpose in this state, another state, or a foreign country if the support order is entitled to recognition and enforcement under this article in Georgia; or\n(4) The record submitted under subsection (b) of this Code section lacks authenticity or integrity.\n(e) A proceeding for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement must be suspended during the pendency of a challenge to or appeal of the agreement before a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.","path":["TITLE 19 Domestic Relations","CHAPTER 11 Enforcement of Duty of Support","Article 3 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act","PART 7 Determination of Parentage"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.19.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"7d62db6378cd6e5062b1bb02e155884c43eec14a16d12b77c977dd9865abb803","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-19-11-184.4","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-19-11-184.6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
