{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-24-5-501","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 24-5-501","heading":"Certain communications privileged.","body":"(a) There are certain admissions and communications excluded from evidence on grounds of public policy, including, but not limited to, the following:\n(1) Communications between husband and wife;\n(2) Communications between attorney and client;\n(3) Communications among grand jurors;\n(4) Secrets of state;\n(5) Communications between psychiatrist and patient;\n(6) Communications between licensed psychologist and patient as provided in Code Section 43-39-16;\n(7) Communications between a licensed clinical social worker, clinical nurse specialist in psychiatric/mental health, licensed marriage and family therapist, or licensed professional counselor and patient;\n(8) Communications between or among any psychiatrist, psychologist, licensed clinical social worker, clinical nurse specialist in psychiatric/mental health, licensed marriage and family therapist, and licensed professional counselor who are rendering psychotherapy or have rendered psychotherapy to a patient, regarding that patient’s communications which are otherwise privileged by paragraph (5), (6), or (7) of this subsection; and\n(9) Communications between accountant and client as provided by Code Section 43-3-29.\n(b) As used in this Code section, the term:\n(1) “Psychotherapy” means the employment of psychotherapeutic techniques.\n(2) “Psychotherapeutic techniques” shall have the same meaning as provided in Code Section 43-10A-3.","path":["TITLE 24 EvidenceCHAPTER 99.","CHAPTER 5 Privileges"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.24.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"3018cdbbd01b8243d05690d8bb4468e9d34c1efa475544a27adf58185d5c1c2c","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-24-4-419","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-24-5-502"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
