{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-31-11-55","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 31-11-55","heading":"Services which may be rendered by certified cardiac technicians and trainees.","body":"(a) Upon certification by the department, cardiac technicians may do any of the following:\n(1) Render first-aid and resuscitation services;\n(2) Upon the order of a duly licensed physician and as recommended by the Georgia Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council and approved by the department:\n(A) Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation in a hemodynamically unstable patient;\n(B) Administer approved intravenous solutions;\n(C) Administer parenteral injections of antiarrhythmic agents, vagolytic agents, chronotropic agents, alkalizing agents, analgesic agents, and vasopressor agents or administer opioid antagonists;\n(D) Perform pulmonary ventilation by esophageal airway and endotracheal intubation; and\n(E) Upon the order of a duly licensed physician during a public health emergency, as defined in Code Section 31-12-1.1, administer vaccines.\n(b) While in training preparatory to becoming certified, cardiac technician trainees may perform any of the functions specified in this Code section under the direct supervision of a duly licensed physician or a registered nurse.","path":["TITLE 31 Health","CHAPTER 11 Emergency Medical Services","Article 3 Personnel"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.31.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"3b836c12c934a802682fdfdcdb76bb4a011aba0b64521d2a27bb247ad08df242","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-31-11-54","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-31-11-55.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
