{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-33-39-19","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 33-39-19","heading":"Monetary penalty for knowing violations of chapter; monetary penalty for violation of cease and desist order.","body":"(a) In any case where a hearing pursuant to Code Section 33-39-16 results in the finding of a knowing violation of this chapter, the Commissioner may, in addition to the issuance of a cease and desist order as prescribed in Code Section 33-39-18, order payment of a monetary penalty of not more than $500.00 for each violation but not to exceed $10,000.00 in the aggregate for multiple violations.\n(b) Any person who violates a cease and desist order of the Commissioner under Code Section 33-39-18 may, after notice and hearing and upon order of the Commissioner, be subject to one or more of the following penalties, at the discretion of the Commissioner:\n(1) A monetary fine of not more than $10,000.00 for each violation;\n(2) A monetary fine of not more than $50,000.00 if the Commissioner finds that violations have occurred with such frequency as to constitute a general business practice; or\n(3) Suspension or revocation of an insurance institution’s or agent’s license.","path":["TITLE 33 Insurance","CHAPTER 39 Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Information Gathered by Insurance Institutions"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.33.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"67d5bfec53efbe6143fb8289889b7254c145f87925b743b223f7d14ad13bf5b2","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-33-39-18","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-33-39-20"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
