{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-35-2-122","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 35-2-122","heading":"Jurisdiction; duties; power.","body":"(a) The division shall have jurisdiction and the primary duty to enforce all laws in Capitol Square and the property and buildings owned by the Georgia Building Authority within a five-mile radius of Capitol Square.\n(b) The division shall have the following additional duties:\n(1) To maintain peace and order and enforce the laws and regulations relating to controlling access to any building or property under the control or operation of the Georgia Building Authority;\n(2) To maintain peace and order and enforce the laws and regulations relating to controlling access to Capitol Square;\n(3) To enforce parking and traffic laws and to investigate accidents within Capitol Square;\n(4) To enforce state law when ordered to do so by the commissioner; and\n(5) To exercise the powers of a law enforcement officer to protect life and property.\n(c) In the performance of their duties, certified law enforcement officers shall be authorized to carry firearms and exercise the power of arrest.","path":["TITLE 35 Law Enforcement Officers and Agencies","CHAPTER 2 Department of Public Safety","Article 6 Capitol Police Division"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.35.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"cf519557e1c8b6c260f11a35dff22408c6ae6c64b301e660235b02638ff95566","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-35-2-121","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-35-2-123"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
