{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-44-5-148","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 44-5-148","heading":"Signed writing or oral communication required for gift of document.","body":"(a) A person authorized to make an anatomical gift under Code Section 44-5-147 may make an anatomical gift by a document of gift signed by the person making the gift or by that person’s oral communication that is electronically recorded or is contemporaneously reduced to a record and signed by the individual receiving the oral communication.\n(b) Subject to subsection (c) of this Code section, an anatomical gift by a person authorized under Code Section 44-5-147 may be amended or revoked orally or in a record by any member of a prior class who is reasonably available. If more than one member of the prior class is reasonably available, the gift made by a person authorized under Code Section 44-5-147 may be:\n(1) Amended only if a majority of the reasonably available members agree to the amending of the gift; or\n(2) Revoked only if a majority of the reasonably available members agree to the revoking of the gift or if they are equally divided as to whether to revoke the gift.\n(c) A revocation under subsection (b) of this Code section is effective only if, before an incision has been made to remove a part from the donor’s body or before invasive procedures have begun to prepare the recipient, the procurement organization, transplant hospital, or physician or technician knows of the revocation.","path":["TITLE 44 Property","CHAPTER 5 Acquisition and Loss of Property","Article 6 Revised Uniform Anatomical Gifts"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.44.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"76d60796e4789c69942625b082a5b258d705bc5a33b90bccea6cdd20551eac74","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-44-5-147","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-44-5-149"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
