{"data":{"id":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-45-17-15","jurisdiction":"us-ga","citation":"O.C.G.A. § 45-17-15","heading":"Revocation of commission; denial of reappointment.","body":"(a) The appointing clerk of superior court may by letter, with a copy to the Georgia Superior Court Clerks’ Cooperative Authority, revoke the commission or deny the reappointment of any notary public who:\n(1) Violates any provision of this chapter;\n(2) Performs any notarial act in violation of Code Section 45-17-8;\n(3) Is found to have submitted an application or endorsement for a notarial commission containing substantial and significant misstatement or omission of fact;\n(4) Ceases to reside or work or have a business in this state; or\n(5) Becomes incapable of reading and writing the English language.\n(b) Any notary public whose commission has been revoked shall upon demand be allowed a hearing and adjudication before the superior court clerk with a right of de novo appeal to the superior court, such appeal to be determined by the court without the intervention of a jury.","path":["TITLE 45 Public Officers and Employees","CHAPTER 17 Notaries Public","Article 1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://archive.org/download/gov.ga.ocga.2018/release86.2022.11/gov.ga.ocga.title.45.odt","current_through":"Release 86 (2022-11)","vintage":"Public.Resource.Org bulk O.C.G.A., Release 86 (2022-11), retrieved 2026-09-17","retrieved_at":"2026-09-17T19:34:57Z","sha256":"4c003f23166805b6a7366a4cfe558a8f5717a9d8c4f626f8393fe85387d5b830","source_id":"us-ga","stale":false,"prev":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-45-17-14","next":"us-ga/o.c.g.a.-45-17-16"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
