{"data":{"id":"us-gu/10-gca-12500","jurisdiction":"us-gu","citation":"10 GCA § 12500","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this Chapter:\n(a) “Ophthalmic lens” means a lens which has a spherical, cylindrical or prismatic value and which is ground pursuant to a prescription, and intended to be used as eyeglasses or spectacles;\n(b) “Contact” or “corneal lens” means any lens to be worn on the anterior segment of the human eye, to be prescribed, dispensed, employed, modified, provided, sold and fitted by a licensed optometrist or physician;\n(c) “Prescription” means a formula written for ophthalmic lenses for a patient by a person duly licensed and containing the following essential elements:\n(1) dioptric power of spheres, cylinders and prisms, axes of cylinders, position of prism base, and if so desired by the prescriber, light transmission properties and lens curve values;\n(2) designation of pupillary distance; and\n(3) name of patient, date of prescription, expiration date and the name and office location of prescriber;\n(d) “Eyeglasses” means any optical device using ophthalmic lenses for the correction or relief of disturbances in and anomalies of human vision and includes spectacles and other devices using ophthalmic lenses; and\n(e) “Board” means the Board of Examiners for Optometry.","path":["Title 10: Health and Safety","Division 1 - Public Health","Chapter 12: Medical Practices: Part 1: Articles 1 - 10","PART 1","ARTICLE 5: OPTOMETRY"],"source_url":"https://col.guamcourts.gov/sites/default/files/10gc012-1_0.pdf","current_through":"P.L. 38-133 (June 4, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-27T02:54:48Z","sha256":"e80e35326c5346f44c01c87ed7ad82ae48b947687b7515fa7ff96b0039eb34d6","source_id":"us-gu","stale":false,"prev":"us-gu/10-gca-12480","next":"us-gu/10-gca-12501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
