{"data":{"id":"us-gu/5-gca-35701","jurisdiction":"us-gu","citation":"5 GCA § 35701","heading":"Definitions.","body":"In this Article:\n(a) Application means a request under the Convention by an obligee or obligor, or on behalf of a child, made through a central authority for assistance from another central authority.\n(b) Central authority means the entity designated by the United States or a foreign country described in § 35102(5)(D) to perform the functions specified in the Convention.\n(c) Convention support order means a support order of a tribunal of a foreign country described in § 35102(5)(D).\n(d) Direct request means a petition filed by an individual in a tribunal of this state in a proceeding involving an obligee, obligor, or child residing outside the United States.\n(e) Foreign central authority means the entity designated by a foreign country described in § 35102(5)(D) to perform the functions specified in the Convention.\n(f) Foreign support agreement:\n(1) means an agreement for support in a record that:\n(A) is enforceable as a support order in the country of origin;\n(B) has been:\n(i) formally drawn up or registered as an authentic instrument by a foreign tribunal; or\n(ii) authenticated by, or concluded, registered, or filed with a foreign tribunal; and\n(C) may be reviewed and modified by a foreign tribunal; and\n(2) includes a maintenance arrangement or authentic instrument under the Convention.\n(g) United States central authority means the Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.","path":["Title 5: Government Operations","Division 3 - Legal and Consumer Affairs","Chapter 35: Uniform Interstate Family Support Act","ARTICLE 7: SUPPORT PROCEEDING UNDER CONVENTION"],"source_url":"https://col.guamcourts.gov/sites/default/files/5gc035.pdf","current_through":"P.L. 38-133 (June 4, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-27T02:21:08Z","sha256":"497b512c6bb7d35bb91663fca1271ab630f6e1259eac131087d85454a2433973","source_id":"us-gu","stale":false,"prev":"us-gu/5-gca-35616","next":"us-gu/5-gca-35702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
