{"data":{"id":"us-gu/7-gca-40101","jurisdiction":"us-gu","citation":"7 GCA § 40101","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this Chapter:\n(a) Abuse means the occurrence of one (1) or more of the following acts between family or household members:\n(1) attempting to cause or intentionally or knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury or serious bodily injury with or without a deadly weapon;\n(2) placing by physical menace another in fear of imminent serious bodily injury; or\n(3) sexually abusing minor children.\n(b) Adult means any person eighteen (18) years of age or older.\n(c) Court means the Superior Court.\n(d) Family or household members means:\n(1) Current or former spouses;\n(2) Adults or minors who live together or who have lived together;\n(3) Adults or minors who are dating or who have dated;\n(4) Adults or minors who are engaged in or who have engaged in a sexual relationship;\n(5) Adults or minors who are related by blood or adoption to the fourth (4th) degree of affinity;\n(6) Adults or minors who are related or were formerly related by marriage;\n(7) Persons who have a child in common; or\n(8) Minor children of persons described in paragraphs (1) through (7) above.","path":["Title 7: Judiciary and Civil Procedure","Division 3 - Civil Special Proceedings","Chapter 40: Protection from Abuse","ARTICLE 1: PROTECTION FROM ABUSE"],"source_url":"https://col.guamcourts.gov/sites/default/files/7gc040.pdf","current_through":"P.L. 38-133 (June 4, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-27T02:36:18Z","sha256":"f2f20b5167589ba21e076e3e48d75b74de685c43633fbb96c78964d8c677c2e3","source_id":"us-gu","stale":false,"prev":"us-gu/7-gca-39a503","next":"us-gu/7-gca-40102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
