{"data":{"id":"us-gu/9-gca-31.20","jurisdiction":"us-gu","citation":"9 GCA § 31.20","heading":"Abortion.","body":"(a) Abortion means the termination of a human pregnancy with an intention other than to produce a live birth or to remove a dead fetus.\n(b) An abortion may be performed:\n(1) by a physician licensed to practice medicine this Territory or by a physician practicing medicine in the employ of the government of the United States;\n(2) in the physician’s adequately equipped medical clinic or in a hospital approved or operated by the United States or this Territory; and\n(3) (A) within 13 weeks after the commencement of the pregnancy; or\n(B) within 26 weeks after the commencement of the pregnancy if the physician has reasonably determined using all available means:\n(i) that the child would be born with a grave physical or mental defect; or\n(ii) that the pregnancy resulted from rape or incest; or\n(C) at any time after the commencement of pregnancy if the physician reasonably determines using all available means that there is a substantial risk that continuance of the pregnancy would endanger the life of the mother or would gravely impair the physical or mental health of the mother.","path":["Title 9: Crimes and Corrections","Chapter 31: Offenses Against the Family"],"source_url":"https://col.guamcourts.gov/sites/default/files/9gc031.pdf","current_through":"P.L. 38-133 (June 4, 2026)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-27T02:46:58Z","sha256":"60ceb06ab0c784fdd8c9766d32ffd1b0137ec0cc9f96cf7b839c34e7c35cccf9","source_id":"us-gu","stale":false,"prev":"us-gu/9-gca-31.15","next":"us-gu/9-gca-31.21"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
