Stat. § 134-9.2","heading":"[ §134-9.","body":"[ §134-9.2] Duty to maintain possession of license while carrying a firearm; duty to disclose; penalty. (a) A person carrying a firearm pursuant to a license issued under section 134-9 or in accordance with title 18 United States Code section 926B or 926C shall have in the person's immediate possession:\n\n(1) The license issued under section 134-9 or documentation regarding the person's qualifications under title 18 United States Code section 926B or 926C;\n\n(2) Government-issued photo identification; and\n\n(3) Except with respect to firearms that are a part of the official equipment of any federal agency as provided under section 134-11(b), documentary evidence that the firearm being carried is registered under this chapter,\n\nand shall, upon request from a law enforcement officer, present government-issued photo identification and the license or credentials and evidence of registration.\n\n(b) When a person carrying a firearm, including a person carrying a firearm pursuant to a license issued under section 134-9 or in accordance with title 18 United States Code section 926B or 926C, is stopped by a law enforcement officer or is a driver or passenger in a vehicle stopped by a law enforcement officer, the person carrying a firearm shall immediately disclose to the law enforcement officer that the person is carrying a firearm , and shall, upon request:\n\n(1) Identify the specific location of the firearm; and\n\n(2) Present to the law enforcement officer a license to carry a firearm issued under section 134-9 or documentation regarding the person's qualifications under title 18 United States Code section 926B or 926C.\n\n(c) Any person who violates this section shall be guilty of a petty misdemeanor.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 10","Chapter 134"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol03_Ch0121-0200D/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0009_0002.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"787ab07254f81479d854ca03cf229561e3b8df0f75dfdc79809069b8c9252a03","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-134-9.1","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-134-9.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
