Stat. § 142-51","heading":"Inspection before slaughter.","body":"No person shall allow livestock to enter a livestock harvesting establishment that slaughters or processes livestock meat and meat products unless the establishment's management has conducted a prior examination and inspection to verify the brand on animals match the ownership of the consignee, collects a copy of and confirms the brand with the ownership of the livestock ownership and movement certificate pursuant to section 142-49. The establishment's management may seek assistance from the department of agriculture [and biosecurity] or a law enforcement officer if ownership determination via brand inspection is in question, or violation or theft is suspected.
