Stat. § 205A-62","heading":"Duties and responsibilities of the lead agency.","body":"The lead agency shall have the following duties and responsibilities:\n\n(1) Coordinate overall implementation of the plan, giving special consideration to the plan's priority recommendations;\n\n(2) Review and periodically update the plan;\n\n(3) Coordinate the development of state agency work plans to implement the ocean resources management plan. The work plans shall be revised on a biennial basis and coordinated with the budget process. State agencies with responsibilities relating to marine and coastal zone management include but are not limited to:\n\n(A) The department of agriculture and biosecurity;\n\n(B) The department of business, economic development, and tourism;\n\n(C) The department of defense;\n\n(D) The department of education;\n\n(E) The department of health;\n\n(F) The department of land and natural resources;\n\n(G) The department of law enforcement;\n\n(H) The department of transportation; and\n\n(I) The University of Hawaii;\n\n(4) Ensure that state agency work plans are closely coordinated with the work plans of relevant federal and county agencies;\n\n(5) Analyze, resolve conflicts between, and prioritize, in cooperation with relevant agencies and as part of the work plan development process, the sector-specific recommendations included in the plan;\n\n(6) Coordinate exclusive economic zone and other marine-related issues with state and county agencies;\n\n(7) Provide technical assistance to the agencies on policy and issue-related matters regarding marine and coastal resources management;\n\n(8) Coordinate marine and coastal education activities; and\n\n(9) Adopt rules pursuant to chapter 91 to carry out the purposes of this part.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 13","Chapter 205A"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol04_Ch0201-0257/HRS0205A/HRS_0205A-0062.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"6e3957199a4ca6df6a74dd27e1262f54208ee685d4736e29eeac0bee41f638fa","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-205a-6","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-205a-63"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
