Stat. § 210D-2","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n\n\"Community-based economic development\" means a community institution-building process that results in community-based enterprises and other economic development activities which are designed and implemented by a community; consistent with a community's values, culture, and vision; and intended to increase community control over local resources and decision-making processes.\n\n\"Community-based organization\" means a nonprofit corporation incorporated in the State of Hawaii that is organized and controlled by either a geographic community, a community of identity, or a community of interest and that is directly involved in community-based economic development activities.\n\n\"Community of identity\" means a group of people who may not live in the same geographic area but who are bound together through a common ethnicity or other personal characteristic such as age or social status.\n\n\"Community of interest\" means a group of people who may not live in the same geographic area but who are bound together through a common economic interest such as coffee growers or an aquaculture cooperative.\n\n\"Council\" means the community-based economic development advisory council.\n\n\"Department\" means the department of business, economic development, and tourism.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 13","Chapter 210D"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol04_Ch0201-0257/HRS0210D/HRS_0210D-0002.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"67206903bf994366f5cf05695cd21811dbef9864620f32b45e936fca962137b8","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-210d-14","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-210d-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
