Stat. § 245-37","heading":"Sale or purchase of packages of cigarettes without stamps; fines and penalties.","body":"(a) Beginning April 1, 2001, a person shall be guilty of a class C felony if the person:\n\n(1) Is not a licensee, and knowingly possesses, keeps, stores, acquires, or transports three thousand or more cigarettes that do not have stamps affixed to the cigarette packages as required by this part; or\n\n(2) Knowingly sells one thousand or more cigarettes that do not have stamps affixed to the cigarette packages as required by this part.\n\n(b) Beginning April 1, 2001, a person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor if the person:\n\n(1) Is not a licensee, and knowingly possesses, keeps, stores, acquires, or transports one thousand or more cigarettes that do not have stamps affixed to the cigarette packages as required by this part; or\n\n(2) Knowingly sells less than one thousand cigarettes that do not have stamps affixed to the cigarette packages as required by this part.\n\n(c) In addition to any other authorized disposition, a corporation found in violation of:\n\n(1) Subsection (a) is subject to a fine in an amount not to exceed $50,000; and\n\n(2) Subsection (b) is subject to a fine in an amount not to exceed $25,000.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 14","Chapter 245"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol04_Ch0201-0257/HRS0245/HRS_0245-0037.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"5aa8d92c52cd13662fb3b7193e238955d288e8aa80259a7096c9bc8899919349","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-245-36","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-245-38"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
