Stat. § 302A-125","heading":"Board of education; vacancies.","body":"(a) The governor shall notify the senate in writing within ten days of:\n\n(1) Removing a member of the board; or\n\n(2) Receiving notification that a member of the board is resigning or has died;\n\nprovided that any vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, in accordance with sections 302A-121, 302A-122, 302A-123, 302A-126, and 302A-127.\n\n(b) Where the chairperson position becomes vacant, the governor may nominate a sitting member of the board to the chairperson position in accordance with subsection (a) and shall fill any resulting vacancy in accordance with subsection (a).","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 18","Chapter 302A"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol05_Ch0261-0319/HRS0302A/HRS_0302A-0125.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"2c1671a5612a11a32678fac8608eb95822c2b4c7ce6f5b147663a921682523de","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-302a-124","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-302a-126"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
