Stat. § 302A-321","heading":"Standards-based curriculum.","body":"(a) When developing a standards-based curriculum and implementing it in a school or complex, at the minimum, the curriculum shall:\n\n(1) Be specific in its standards-based scope and sequence over a school year for each grade level and course;\n\n(2) Be consistent in course content;\n\n(3) Be aligned across all grade levels;\n\n(4) Specifically address the state content and performance standards and related benchmark maps; and\n\n(5) Be implemented in all appropriate classrooms in the school or complex.\n\n(b) School complexes may choose to develop an articulated and aligned K-12 standards-based curriculum in one or more of the following core content areas:\n\n(1) Language arts;\n\n(2) Mathematics;\n\n(3) Science; and\n\n(4) Social studies.\n\n(c) School complexes shall provide professional development.\n\n(d) School complexes that develop a standards-based curriculum shall use standards-based formative assessment tools to monitor student progress, not less than on a quarterly basis throughout the school year.\n\n(e) School complexes shall develop rigorous classroom-based performance assessments.\n\n(f) School complexes may implement software programs at the school level to help to align school course material with Hawaii content and performance and federal educational standards.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 18","Chapter 302A"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol05_Ch0261-0319/HRS0302A/HRS_0302A-0321.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"0a224bf7b0719b476f508b5140e13d2e7381570fe83173c1e4b16877cc3fdea1","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-302a-1905","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-302a-322"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
