Stat. § 302A-703","heading":"Educational officers, salary incentives.","body":"(a) The salary ranges for principal and vice-principal positions shall be determined by the board, based on the position classification/compensation plan approved by the board and salary incentives designed to:\n\n(1) Keep exemplary principals and vice-principals at the school level;\n\n(2) Encourage exemplary principals and vice-principals to accept long-term assignments to hard-to-staff schools, special needs schools, and schools with high teacher turnover;\n\n(3) Encourage exemplary teachers to become vice-principals;\n\n(4) Encourage exemplary vice-principals to become principals; and\n\n(5) Encourage exemplary educational officers to become vice-principals.\n\n(b) The department shall develop a definition of \"exemplary\" in consultation with the appropriate collective bargaining representative.\n\nSalary ranges and salary incentives for educational officer positions shall be subject to the requirements of section 302A-625.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 18","Chapter 302A"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol05_Ch0261-0319/HRS0302A/HRS_0302A-0703.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"74db5a1f0cd1afb773ce8987d3ca408fc5e741d5b1e149a6327cbe1d74fa6acf","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-302a-702","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-302a-704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
