Stat. § 321-342","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n\n\"Child\" means a person under eighteen years of age.\n\n\"Child death review information\" means information regarding the child and child's family, including but not limited to:\n\n(1) Social, medical, and legal histories;\n\n(2) Death and birth certificates;\n\n(3) Law enforcement investigative data;\n\n(4) Medical examiner or coroner investigative data;\n\n(5) Parole and probation information and records;\n\n(6) Information and records of social service agencies;\n\n(7) Educational records; and\n\n(8) Health care institution information.\n\n\"Department\" means the department of health.\n\n\"Director\" means the director of health or the director's designated representatives.\n\n\"Family\" means:\n\n(1) Each legal parent;\n\n(2) Each natural parent;\n\n(3) The adjudicated, presumed, or concerned natural parent as defined under section 578-2;\n\n(4) Each parent's spouse or former spouses;\n\n(5) Each sibling or person related by consanguinity or marriage;\n\n(6) Each person residing in the same dwelling unit; and\n\n(7) Any other person who, or legal entity that, is a child's legal or physical custodian or guardian, or who is otherwise responsible for the child's care, other than an authorized agency that assumes such a legal status or relationship with the child under chapter 587A.\n\n\"Preventable death\" means a death that reasonable medical, social, legal, psychological, or educational intervention may have prevented.\n\n\"Provider of medical care\" means any health care practitioner who provides, or a facility through which is provided, any medical evaluation or treatment, including dental and mental health evaluation or treatment.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 19","Chapter 321"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol06_Ch0321-0344/HRS0321/HRS_0321-0342.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"0d3ece71a219e3f36549fc6f157a0add4f33be256c4c3f27527ccbf28f3a86e1","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-321-34","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-321-343"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
