Stat. § 342H-42","heading":"Prohibition.","body":"On or after January 1, 1992, no person shall manufacture, distribute, sell, or expose for sale in this State any plastic bottle or rigid plastic container unless the product has a label indicating the plastic resin used to produce the plastic bottle or rigid plastic container. The label shall consist of a number placed within a triangle of arrows and letters placed below the triangle. The triangle shall be equilateral, formed by three arrows curved at their midpoints and depicting a clockwise path around the code number. The numbers and letters used shall be as follows:\n\n(1) For polyethylene terephthalate, the letters \"PETE\" and the number 1;\n\n(2) For high density polyethylene, the letters \"HDPE\" and the number 2;\n\n(3) For vinyl, the letter \"V\" and the number 3;\n\n(4) For low density polyethylene, the letters \"LDPE\" and the number 4;\n\n(5) For polypropylene, the letters \"PP\" and the number 5;\n\n(6) For polystyrene, the letters \"PS\" and the number 6; and\n\n(7) For any other, the letters \"OTHER\" and the number 7.","path":["HI Code","Division 1","Title 19","Chapter 342H"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol06_Ch0321-0344/HRS0342H/HRS_0342H-0042.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"cc67bfaf2a0a0030346cc5e89571edad1b972c9ecf91f0ff1c7c0afa34fed724","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-342h-4","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-342h-5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
