Stat. § 421C-42","heading":"Disposition of non-escheat patronage refunds.","body":"(a) An electric utility cooperative association shall transfer all non-escheat patronage refunds to a nonprofit corporation incorporated pursuant to chapter 414D.\n\n(b) The nonprofit corporation to which non-escheat patronage refunds are transferred pursuant to subsection (a) shall use the non-escheat patronage refunds to:\n\n(1) Fund electric energy assistance programs for low-income persons who reside in the service area of the electric utility cooperative association;\n\n(2) Make donations to other nonprofit charitable and community organizations, as authorized by its board of directors;\n\n(3) Grant educational scholarships to individuals who reside in the service area of the electric utility cooperative association; or\n\n(4) Support other appropriate uses for the benefit of the general membership of the electric utility cooperative association, as may be authorized by its board of directors.","path":["HI Code","Division 2","Title 23","Chapter 421C"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol08_Ch0401-0429/HRS0421C/HRS_0421C-0042.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"a2afda1cfa27ba437712e2102d782add5158e91e8feeffa2c443297f25478f1e","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-421c-37","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-421h-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
