Stat. § 451A-1","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n\"Department\" means the department of commerce and consumer affairs.\n\n\"Director\" means the director of commerce and consumer affairs.\n\n\"Hearing aid\" means any wearable instrument or device and any parts, attachments, or accessories, including earmold, but excluding batteries and cords, designed or offered for the purpose of aiding or compensating impaired human hearing.\n\n\"Practice of dealing and fitting of hearing aids\" means the measurement of human hearing by an audiometer or by any other means solely for the purpose of making selections, adaptations, or sales of hearing aids or the manufacture of impressions for earmolds, and, at the request of a physician or a member of a profession related to the practice of medicine and surgery, the administration of audiograms for use in consultation with the hard-of-hearing.\n\n\"Sale\" means any transfer of title, interest, or possession except transactions with distributors or dealers.","path":["HI Code","Division 2","Title 25","Chapter 451A"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol10_Ch0436-0474/HRS0451A/HRS_0451A-0001.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"f1b717a94c3113623863565ca09498e40a5c65bb70b0a5a01a0590dea046e492","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-449-9","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-451a-10"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
