Stat. § 454M-8","heading":"Powers of commissioner.","body":"In addition to any other acts or conditions provided by law, the commissioner may:\n\n(1) Adopt, amend, or repeal rules, issue declaratory rulings or informal nonbinding interpretations, and investigate and act upon written consumer complaints;\n\n(2) Grant, deny, forfeit, renew, reinstate, or restore the license of any mortgage servicer;\n\n(3) Revoke, suspend, or otherwise limit the license of any mortgage servicer for any violation of the provisions in this chapter, or any rule or order of, or agreement with the commissioner;\n\n(4) Issue orders to cease and desist and enter into consent orders;\n\n(5) Report any violation of this chapter or violation of federal or state law to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or other federal agency having jurisdiction over the licensee;\n\n(6) Investigate and conduct hearings regarding any violation of this chapter, or any rule or order of or agreement with the commissioner; and\n\n(7) Do any and all things necessary or incidental to the exercise of the commissioner's power and duties, including the authority to conduct contested case proceedings under chapter 91.","path":["HI Code","Division 2","Title 25","Chapter 454M"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol10_Ch0436-0474/HRS0454M/HRS_0454M-0008.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"e0b624fb8345ba2f841a4aad81f3ed1c70d1bcb5ff51232b4917963375ab28a6","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-454m-7","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-454m-8.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
