Stat. § 466D-5","heading":"Powers and duties of the director.","body":"In addition to any other powers and duties authorized by law, the director shall have the powers and duties to:\n\n(1) Grant, deny, renew, refuse to renew, restore, terminate, reinstate, condition, restrict, suspend, or revoke a license issued pursuant to this chapter;\n\n(2) Grant permission to a person to practice respiratory care and to use the title of \"licensed respiratory therapist\" or a description indicating that the person is a licensed respiratory therapist in this State;\n\n(3) Adopt, amend, or repeal rules pursuant to chapter 91 as the director finds necessary to carry out this chapter;\n\n(4) Administer, coordinate, and enforce this chapter;\n\n(5) Prepare and administer examinations pursuant to the requirements of this chapter;\n\n(6) Establish the criteria for successful passage of an examination administered pursuant to this chapter;\n\n(7) Discipline a licensed respiratory therapist on grounds specified by this chapter or chapter 436B or for any violation of rules adopted by the director pursuant to this chapter;\n\n(8) Refuse to license a person for failure to meet the licensing requirements in this chapter or for any reason specified by this chapter as grounds to discipline a respiratory therapist; and\n\n(9) Appoint an advisory committee composed of practicing respiratory therapists to assist with the implementation of this chapter.","path":["HI Code","Division 2","Title 25","Chapter 466D"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol10_Ch0436-0474/HRS0466D/HRS_0466D-0005.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"fab9a5f37ededed94c381ed77772dbab43010298caee5ddf395d78d0536a3df0","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-466d-2","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-466d-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
