Stat. § 490:7-105","heading":"Reissuance in alternative medium.","body":"(a) Upon request of a person entitled under an electronic document of title, the issuer of the electronic document may issue a tangible document of title as a substitute for the electronic document if:\n\n(1) The person entitled under the electronic document surrenders control of the electronic document to the issuer; and\n\n(2) The tangible document when issued contains a statement that it is issued in substitution for the electronic document.\n\n(b) Upon issuance of a tangible document of title in substitution for an electronic document of title in accordance with subsection (a):\n\n(1) The electronic document ceases to have any effect or validity; and\n\n(2) The person that procured issuance of the tangible document warrants to all subsequent persons entitled under the tangible document that the warrantor was a person entitled under the electronic document when the warrantor surrendered control of the electronic document to the issuer.\n\n(c) Upon request of a person entitled under a tangible document of title, the issuer of the tangible document may issue an electronic document of title as a substitute for the tangible document if:\n\n(1) The person entitled under the tangible document surrenders possession of the tangible document to the issuer; and\n\n(2) The electronic document when issued contains a statement that it is issued in substitution for the tangible document.\n\n(d) Upon issuance of an electronic document of title in substitution for a tangible document of title in accordance with subsection (c):\n\n(1) The tangible document ceases to have any effect or validity; and\n\n(2) The person that procured issuance of the electronic document warrants to all subsequent persons entitled under the electronic document that the warrantor was a person entitled under the tangible document when the warrantor surrendered possession of the tangible document to the issuer.","path":["Hawaii Code","Division 2","Title 27","Chapter 490"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol11_Ch0476-0490/HRS0490/HRS_0490-0007-0105.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"32886b8109a5497016d94287ac1caa098550ed76dca1a68ec52e68a3379ede89","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-490-7-104","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-490-7-106"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
