Stat. § 490:9-512","heading":"Amendment of financing statement.","body":"(a) Subject to section 490:9-509, a person may add or delete collateral covered by, continue or terminate the effectiveness of, or, subject to subsection (e), otherwise amend the information provided in, a financing statement by filing an amendment that:\n\n(1) Identifies, by its file number, the initial financing statement to which the amendment relates; and\n\n(2) If the amendment relates to an initial financing statement filed or recorded in a filing office described in section 490:9-501(a)(1), provides the information specified in section 490:9-502(b).\n\n(b) Except as otherwise provided in section 490:9-515, the filing of an amendment does not extend the period of effectiveness of the financing statement.\n\n(c) A financing statement that is amended by an amendment that adds collateral is effective as to the added collateral only from the date of the filing of the amendment.\n\n(d) A financing statement that is amended by an amendment that adds a debtor is effective as to the added debtor only from the date of the filing of the amendment.\n\n(e) An amendment is ineffective to the extent it:\n\n(1) Purports to delete all debtors and fails to provide the name of a debtor to be covered by the financing statement; or\n\n(2) Purports to delete all secured parties of record and fails to provide the name of a new secured party of record.","path":["Hawaii Code","Division 2","Title 27","Chapter 490"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol11_Ch0476-0490/HRS0490/HRS_0490-0009-0512.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"42efa39fa48f0b12f088058e7961d7bd408595555116ca525fa2497283efd634","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-490-9-511","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-490-9-513"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
