Stat. § 553A-7","heading":"Transfer by obligor.","body":"(a) Subject to subsections (b) and (c), a person not subject to section 553A-5 or 553A-6 who holds property of or owes a liquidated debt to a minor not having a conservator may make an irrevocable transfer to a custodian for the benefit of the minor pursuant to section 553A-9.\n\n(b) If a person having the right to do so under section 553A-3 has nominated a custodian under that section to receive the custodial property, the transfer must be made to that person.\n\n(c) If no custodian has been nominated under section 553A-3, or all persons so nominated as custodian die before the transfer or are unable, decline, or are ineligible to serve, a transfer under this section may be made to an adult member of the minor's family or to a trust company unless the property exceeds $10,000 in value.","path":["HI Code","Division 3","Title 30","Chapter 553A"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol12_Ch0501-0588/HRS0553A/HRS_0553A-0007.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"c2d88b9898e84559b8d8658d737d52f8e16625eeba52bd942997666515520df9","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-553a-6","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-553a-8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
