Stat. § 576B-710","heading":"Foreign support agreement.","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsections (c) and (d), a tribunal of this State shall recognize and enforce a foreign support agreement registered in this State.\n\n(b) An application or direct request for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement shall be accompanied by:\n\n(1) A complete text of the foreign support agreement; and\n\n(2) A record stating that the foreign support agreement is enforceable as an order of support in the issuing country.\n\n(c) A tribunal of this State may vacate the registration of a foreign support agreement only if, acting on its own motion, the tribunal finds that recognition and enforcement would be manifestly incompatible with public policy.\n\n(d) In a contest of a foreign support agreement, a tribunal of this State may refuse recognition and enforcement of the agreement if it finds:\n\n(1) Recognition and enforcement of the agreement is manifestly incompatible with public policy;\n\n(2) The agreement was obtained by fraud or falsification;\n\n(3) The agreement is incompatible with a support order involving the same parties and having the same purpose in this State, another state, or a foreign country if the support order is entitled to recognition and enforcement under this chapter in this State; or\n\n(4) The record submitted under subsection (b) lacks authenticity or integrity.\n\n(e) A proceeding for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement shall be suspended during the pendency of a challenge to or appeal of the agreement before a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.","path":["HI Code","Division 3","Title 31","Chapter 576B"],"source_url":"http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol12_Ch0501-0588/HRS0576B/HRS_0576B-0710.htm","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:11Z","sha256":"4dfa5fab5ddaf6cfbcd0b6a3b3007def1061f19e92984c4f7b8f0ce841ed5896","source_id":"us-hi","stale":false,"prev":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-576b-709","next":"us-hi/haw.-rev.-stat.-576b-711"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
