{"data":{"id":"us-ia/iowa-code-357a.1","jurisdiction":"us-ia","citation":"Iowa Code § 357A.1","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n1. “Auditor” means the county auditor of a county in which a district has been incorporated and organized or is proposed to be incorporated and organized.\n2. “Board” means the board of directors of a district, and “director” means a member of such board of directors.\n3. “Department” means the department of natural resources.\n4. “District” means a rural water district incorporated and organized pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.\n5. “Member” means an owner of real property which is located within a district, the tenant of the real property, or another person acting for the owner with the owner’s written consent.\n6. “Participating member” means a member who has subscribed to and paid the established fee for at least one benefit unit in a district, in the manner provided by this chapter.\n7. “Rural water association” or “association” means a rural water association organized and incorporated as a cooperative association under chapter 499 or as a nonprofit corporation under chapter 504.\n8. “Supervisors” means the board of supervisors of a county, or the board of supervisors of an adjacent county, in which a district has been incorporated and organized or is proposed to be incorporated and organized.","path":["Title IX - LOCAL GOVERNMENT (Ch. 331 - 420)","Chapter 357A - RURAL WATER SERVICE PROVIDERS"],"source_url":"https://www.legis.iowa.gov/docs/code/2026/357A.1.pdf","current_through":"Iowa Code 2026 edition","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:40:09Z","sha256":"179d3b6747273f49945b3395502b8ee94f63fb74ba46855b67702d1ae62555c0","source_id":"us-ia","stale":false,"prev":"us-ia/iowa-code-357.35","next":"us-ia/iowa-code-357a.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
