{"data":{"id":"us-ia/iowa-code-579a.1","jurisdiction":"us-ia","citation":"Iowa Code § 579A.1","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:\n1. “Cattle” means an animal classified as bovine, regardless of the age or sex of the animal.\n2. “Custom cattle feedlot” means a feedlot where cattle owned by a person are provided feed and care by another person.\n3. “Custom cattle feedlot operator” means the owner of a custom cattle feedlot or the owner’s personal representative.\n4. “Feedlot” means a lot, yard, corral, building, or other area in which cattle are confined and fed and maintained for forty-five days or more in any twelve-month period.\n5. “Lien” means a custom cattle feedlot lien created in section 579A.2.\n6. “Personal representative” means a person who is authorized by the owner of a custom cattle feedlot to act on behalf of the owner, including by executing an agreement, managing a custom cattle feedlot, filing a financing statement to perfect a lien, and enforcing a lien under this chapter.\n7. “Processor” means the same as defined in section 202B.102.","path":["Title XIV - PROPERTY (Ch. 555 - 594A)","Chapter 579A - CUSTOM CATTLE FEEDLOT LIEN"],"source_url":"https://www.legis.iowa.gov/docs/code/2026/579A.1.pdf","current_through":"Iowa Code 2026 edition","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:40:15Z","sha256":"a87d88a0cb12da147a84757810bfcb180137e2c122857cb9719758944b650d42","source_id":"us-ia","stale":false,"prev":"us-ia/iowa-code-579.3","next":"us-ia/iowa-code-579a.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
