{"data":{"id":"us-id/idaho-code-18-3327","jurisdiction":"us-id","citation":"Idaho Code § 18-3327","heading":"Consistency in Knife regulation.","body":"(1) Except as provided in sections 18-3302 and 18-3302A, Idaho Code, a city, county, or other political subdivision of this state shall not enact any ordinance, rule, or tax relating to the transportation, possession, carrying, sale, transfer, purchase, gift, devise, licensing, registration, or use of a knife or knife making components in this state.\n(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, the following entities may regulate the possession of a knife:\n(a) Public schools, including public charter schools;\n(b) Any court of record for any courthouse;\n(c) All law enforcement facilities;\n(d) All places of involuntary confinement, including:\n(i) Prisons and jails established pursuant to title 20, Idaho Code; and\n(ii) Entities managed and operated pursuant to section 56-203, Idaho Code; and\n(e) A city, county, or other political subdivision of the state in order to regulate child care facility safety standards.\n(3) A city, county, or other political subdivision of this state shall not enact any rule or ordinance relating to the manufacture of a knife that is more restrictive than any rule or ordinance relating to the manufacture of any other commercial goods.\n(4) Except as provided in sections 18-3302 and 18-3302A, Idaho Code, any rule or ordinance of a city, county, or political subdivision of this state that contradicts the provisions of this section shall be null, void, and of no force and effect.","path":["TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS","CHAPTER 33 FIREARMS, EXPLOSIVES AND OTHER DEADLY WEAPONS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title18/t18ch33/sect18-3327/","current_through":"2026 Legislative Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T13:33:09Z","sha256":"4ffa724451d0ae428da597713ea3d991c875d50e5e50775fcfa24478dbbc3b75","source_id":"us-id","stale":false,"prev":"us-id/idaho-code-18-3326a","next":"us-id/idaho-code-18-3401"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
