{"data":{"id":"us-id/idaho-code-18-6721","jurisdiction":"us-id","citation":"Idaho Code § 18-6721","heading":"Application for an order for a pen register or a trap and trace device.","body":"(1) The prosecuting attorney or attorney general may make application for an order or an extension of an order under section 18-6722, Idaho Code, authorizing or approving the installation and use of a pen register or a trap and trace device under this chapter, in writing under oath or equivalent affirmation to the district court.\n(2) An application under subsection (1) of this section shall include:\n(a) The identity of the prosecuting attorney or attorney general making the application and the identity of the law enforcement agency conducting the investigation; and\n(b) A certification by the applicant that the information likely to be obtained is relevant to an ongoing criminal investigation being conducted by that agency.","path":["TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS","CHAPTER 67 COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY"],"source_url":"https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title18/t18ch67/sect18-6721/","current_through":"2026 Legislative Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T11:17:03Z","sha256":"79a96b26e17075e2f0c44e87cceff53ae6f633cc457dc210eeb4c54a6fb65a62","source_id":"us-id","stale":false,"prev":"us-id/idaho-code-18-6720","next":"us-id/idaho-code-18-6722"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
