{"data":{"id":"us-id/idaho-code-18-8608","jurisdiction":"us-id","citation":"Idaho Code § 18-8608","heading":"human sex trafficking of a child.","body":"A person who is eighteen (18) years of age or older commits the felony of human sex trafficking of a child if the person:\n(1) Traffics a child and knowingly, by any means, causes or attempts to cause the trafficked person to engage in or become the victim of:\n(a) Commercial sexual activity;\n(b) A sexually explicit performance; or\n(c) Conduct prohibited by:\n(i) Section 18-924 (sexual battery);\n(ii) Section 18-925 (aggravated sexual battery);\n(iii) Section 18-6101 (rape);\n(iv) Section 18-1506 (sexual abuse of a child under sixteen years);\n(v) Section 18-1507 (sexual exploitation of a child);\n(vi) Section 18-1507A (sexual exploitation of a child by electronic means);\n(vii) Section 18-1508 (lewd conduct with a minor child under sixteen);\n(viii) Section 18-1508A (sexual battery of a minor child sixteen or seventeen years of age);\n(ix) Section 18-5602 (procurement);\n(x) Section 18-5603 (receiving pay for procurement);\n(xi) Section 18-5604 (paying for procurement);\n(xii) Section 18-5605 (detention for commercial sexual activity);\n(xiii) Section 18-5606 (receiving proceeds of illegal sexual activity);\n(xiv) Section 18-5608 (place of commercial sexual activity);\n(xv) Section 18-5609 (inducing a child into commercial sexual activity);\n(xvi) Section 18-5610 (utilizing a child for commercial sexual activity);\n(xvii) Section 18-5611 (inducing a child to engage in commercial sexual activity);\n(xviii) Section 18-5613 (providing commercial sexual activity);\n(xix) Section 18-5614 (soliciting commercial sexual activity);\n(xx) Section 18-6601 (incest);\n(xxi) Section 18-6602 (sexual abuse of an animal);\n(xxii) Section 18-6603 (sexual abuse of human remains); or\n(xxiii) Section 18-6604 (forcible penetration by use of a foreign object);\n(2) Engages in sexual contact with a child being trafficked in the manner described in subsection (1) of this section; or\n(3) Receives any benefit from participating in a venture knowing that the venture involves an activity described in subsection (1) of this section.","path":["TITLE 18 CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS","CHAPTER 86 HUMAN TRAFFICKING"],"source_url":"https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title18/t18ch86/sect18-8608/","current_through":"2026 Legislative Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T13:33:34Z","sha256":"db2b1cf33466a2b613bb2677ce3234c7c8a0985f2d42b5d59025f9fa5b31fbc2","source_id":"us-id","stale":false,"prev":"us-id/idaho-code-18-8607","next":"us-id/idaho-code-18-8609"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
