{"data":{"id":"us-id/idaho-code-34-702","jurisdiction":"us-id","citation":"Idaho Code § 34-702","heading":"Requirements for write-in candidates at primary.","body":"(1) In addition to possessing all other qualifications, in order to become a candidate of a political party at the general election, those candidates whose names are written in at the primary election must:\n(a) Receive at least the following number of write-in votes at the primary election:\n(i) One thousand (1,000) for any statewide office;\n(ii) Five hundred (500) for a congressional district office;\n(iii) Fifty (50) for a legislative district office; or\n(iv) Five (5) for a county office or a single countywide highway district office pursuant to section 40-1404A, Idaho Code; and\n(b) File a declaration of intent for that office, pursuant to section 34-702A, Idaho Code.\n(2) Candidates who are required to file with the secretary of state shall pay the filing fee required for that office no later than the deadline for filing a declaration of intent pursuant to section 34-702A, Idaho Code, or shall file a petition pursuant to section 34-626, Idaho Code.\n(3) No write-ins shall be allowed for judicial office.","path":["TITLE 34 ELECTIONS","CHAPTER 7 NOMINATIONS — CONVENTIONS — PRIMARY ELECTIONS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title34/t34ch7/sect34-702/","current_through":"2026 Legislative Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T11:19:34Z","sha256":"ab60869374e5eddf0729ac49d31f53a8a7988a34bb4784cd868e2fc21aa9809a","source_id":"us-id","stale":false,"prev":"us-id/idaho-code-34-701","next":"us-id/idaho-code-34-702a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
