Discipline is to promote self-control, self-esteem, and independence. The following acts are prohibited:\n(1) Any punishment inflicted on the body, including spanking;\n(2) Cruel and unusual physical exercise, including forcing a child to take an uncomfortable position;\n(3) Use of excessive physical labor;\n(4) Use of restraints;\n(5) Locking a child in a room or area;\n(6) Denying necessities, including food, clothing, bedding, rest, toilet use, personal care and sanitation, or entrance to the home or facility; and\n(7) Mental or emotional cruelty or verbal abuse.","path":["TITLE 39 HEALTH AND SAFETY","CHAPTER 11 BASIC DAY CARE LICENSE"],"source_url":"https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title39/t39ch11/sect39-1110a/","current_through":"2026 Legislative Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T13:48:54Z","sha256":"9b0e903e053f6a7d60a2e2227c45c15d1ef0c2fffe8b2d39b4d6cdc1b47d1fea","source_id":"us-id","stale":false,"prev":"us-id/idaho-code-39-1110","next":"us-id/idaho-code-39-1111"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
