{"data":{"id":"us-id/idaho-code-54-1734","jurisdiction":"us-id","citation":"Idaho Code § 54-1734","heading":"PHARMACIST PRESCRIBING — GENERAL REQUIREMENTS.","body":"(1) A pharmacist may independently prescribe if such pharmacist:\n(a) Only prescribes drugs for conditions for which the pharmacist is educationally prepared and for which competence has been achieved and maintained;\n(b) Only issues a prescription for a legitimate medical purpose arising from a patient-prescriber relationship;\n(c) Obtains adequate information about the patient’s health status to make appropriate decisions based on the applicable standard of care and the best available evidence;\n(d) Recognizes the limits of the pharmacist’s own knowledge and experience and consults with and refers to other health care professionals as appropriate; and\n(e) Maintains documentation adequate to justify the care provided, including but not limited to the information collected as part of the patient assessment, diagnosis, prescription record, provider notification, and follow-up care plan.\n(2) The general requirements provided for in this section do not apply to the prescribing of devices and nonprescription drugs, prescribing under a collaborative pharmacy practice agreement, direct administration of a medication, or prescribing emergency drugs authorized under this chapter.","path":["TITLE 54 PROFESSIONS, VOCATIONS, AND BUSINESSES","CHAPTER 17 PHARMACISTS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title54/t54ch17/sect54-1734/","current_through":"2026 Legislative Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T13:37:59Z","sha256":"6d4693146bd6df79dd5ee288baf912a155467b298c8a2a91c3f37e9bc2b06c13","source_id":"us-id","stale":false,"prev":"us-id/idaho-code-54-1733b","next":"us-id/idaho-code-54-1735"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
